How to Rebuild Yourself when you're feeling stuck

Hi, and welcome to my blog. I'm Justin Tee (not my real name), and I started this blog because I was feeling stuck.

If you're reading this, you might be feeling stuck too.

What do I mean by "stuck"? I mean feelings of inertia - what some might call depression. A lack of motivation. Feeling so heavy you can't move. Being constantly mentally overloaded. Feeling a lack of purpose. Or maybe even thinking you're a failure.

If any of this sounds familiar, maybe this blog can help.

You might be:

  • Recovering from something that turned your life upside down - an accident, an injury, a loss, trauma, or a difficult period

  • On medication that suppresses your motivation

  • Feeling as though you've failed - failed your goals, and the self-criticism makes it even worse

  • Feeling like you've fallen over and can't get up

  • All of the above, or something else entirely

Maybe, like I did, you think this is all nonsense and you're just being lazy. Maybe you believe you should have the willpower to get yourself out of this.

Here's what I've learned: it's real. Mental health and depression are real. Your own thoughts are so powerful they can make you believe anything.

If you want to change those beliefs, it's going to take some work. A lot of work.

I've been having Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) for some time. I've been on medication. I've also read books and articles. But I'm not a therapist or a medical professional in any way. I'm just someone who was stuck and has been building a way out.

Over the coming posts, I'm going to share the system I've been developing - the one that's helping me stand up again and move forward.
