The Rebuilding Cycle - The RE-BUILD-ME Strategy
by Justin Tee
I don't like to write about negative thoughts. But I had to, to explain the black hole. Now I want to write about the way out.
I have always said:
I don't have problems, I have solutions.
But the black hole was my problem. It took me a long time to understand that – to even believe it was a problem. To accept it was a problem. Then it took me a long time to break it down so I understood it.
The black hole was the problem. The Rebuilding Cycle is the solution. Or part of it. I am still figuring it out.
What is RE-BUILD-ME?
Rebuild Everyday

ME
RE-BUILD-ME is a daily reset system. A framework. A strategy. Small actions. No pressure. No punishment. No perfection.
You are rebuilding your foundations, your confidence, yourself. Through consistency and self‑trust, through small, repeatable actions.
How Change Happens
Change is not instant. It is a process.
You do not need to feel motivated to start. You just need to act.
Action creates evidence. Evidence builds belief. Belief becomes identity.
Action → Evidence → Belief → Identity
This is how the brain works. Every small action is a brick. Lay enough bricks, and you have a foundation.
The Rebuilding Cycles
The black hole cycle pulls you down. The Rebuilding Cycle lifts you up. They are opposites.
| Black Hole Cycle | Rebuilding Cycle |
|---|---|
| You set a goal. You miss one day. You spiral. You stop. | You set a goal. You miss one day. You use the failsafe. You continue. |
| You call yourself lazy. | You say, ‘I will try again tomorrow.’ |
| You avoid the task. | You scale down. Something is better than nothing. |
| You stop trying. | You keep showing up, in some form. |
Here is how The Rebuilding Cycle works, step by step.
Action → Evidence → Belief → Confidence
You take one small action. Any action. You prove to yourself that you can do it. Confidence grows.
Small wins → Dopamine → Motivation
Every small win releases dopamine. Dopamine is the feel-good chemical. It fuels your motivation to take the next step.
Reflection → Awareness → Self-Compassion
At the end of each day, you reflect. This builds awareness and self-compassion. The voice you hear will become your voice. It will tell you ‘well done’ instead of feeding negative thoughts.
Writing → Clarity → Emotional Processing
Writing down your thoughts slows down the spiral. It gives you clarity. It helps you process emotions instead of being consumed by them.
Daily check-ins → Accountability → Consistency
You check in every day. Did you exercise? Did you study? You hold yourself accountable. Not with shame. With a simple checkmark.
Repetition → Habit → Identity
You repeat the small actions. They become habits. The habits become your identity.
Failsafe → No failure → Continuation
The failsafe is your safety net. If you cannot do the full thing, you do the light version. You never truly fail. You just scale down. Every small action rebuilds your agency – your control over yourself.
Reset → No guilt → Return
Every day is a fresh reset. You do not carry yesterday's guilt into today. You just return.
What Makes It Sustainable
The Rebuilding Cycle works in real life, not just in theory.
Simple goals → low friction → action
Time limits → manageable → completion
Structure → less overwhelm → engagement
Positive self-talk → reduced resistance → behaviour change
Emotional safety → trust → consistency
Reinforcement → identity → long-term change
You do not need to be perfect. You just need to show up, in some form, every day.
How the App Supports You
The app is simply a tool to make the system easier to follow. The framework works with anything. A notebook. A notes app. A piece of paper.
The app helps by reducing friction.
Prompts → clarity → action
Feedback → encouragement → continuation
Logging → visibility → accountability
But you do not need the app.
The Way Out
The Rebuilding Cycle is the opposite of the black hole. It does not rely on willpower. It has a failsafe. It lets you scale down instead of stop.
You do not need to climb out in one leap. You just need to take one small step. Then another. Then another.
The Rebuilding Cycle becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Balance returns.
It is not easy. But it is possible. And only you can Do it.
Breathe and Rebuild Everyday
When you cannot think, act. When you cannot act, breathe. But do not stop.
